Consumer Electronics Association sets standards for video players

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) has set a list of standards for portable video players. This will make interoperability a little more feasible. "This standard marks a milestone in the development of open industry standards. With its publication, this common connector standard will more easily enable device interconnectivity in the homes and cars of consumers," said a Microsoft chairperson in response. So, everyone out there, if you want to build your own PVP, be sure to get yourself a copy of CEA-2017, Common Interconnection for Portable Media Players.

Yahoo China condemned on request of the majors

Whereas Yahoo has just launched a lyrics website after an agreement with the editors, the Chinese gate knows some legal problems. A court of Beijing has just forced the company to pay some 210.000 yuan or even 27.000 dollars to the usual labels (Warner, BMG, EMI, Universal, SONY). Yahoo immediately let know that it would appeal. Yahoo was moreover enjoined to remove several links towards musical contents, under licence of these majors.

11 complaints had been deposited against Yahoo China for illegal links disposal, after several months of repeated requests remained unfruitful at the statement of the IFPI. It should be known that a section of the engine is dedicated in the search of MP3 files and thus allows to constitute an ideal discotheque without too many difficulties.

It's not the first time that the majors members of the IFPI attack large Chinese entities. Sony Chine sort deux nouveaux PVP

La poule aux oeufs d'or de Sony est vue sur le PMX-M70, et un autre nouveau modèle, le PMX-U50. Les deux comportent également la barre de médias Xross, une interface qui n'est, à mon avis, pas des meilleurs, mais Sony semble penser que c'est un cadeau du ciel. On trouvera le M70 en version 2, 4, et 8 Go, avec un affichage TFT de 4,3", enregistrement video en live, et équipé d'un tuner FM ainsi que d'un dictaphone. L'U50 sera en version 512 Mo, 1 Go, 2 Go, et 4 Go, avec un affichage TFT de 2.4" et proposé avec les mêmes caractéristiques de base que le M70.
